I’ve been writing original music since 2002. A lot of it was with my old band, Smock, and our later incarnation, Golf. You’ve never heard of them.
Somehow, in all that time, I’ve never fully managed to put forth a solo album. I’m hoping that, by the time you read this, that has already changed and I’ve simply forgotten to update this paragraph.
I’m a big fan of jangly guitars (Lemonheads, Blake Babies, R.E.M., Johnny Marr), punkishly-loud pop (Smoking Popes, Sugar, the entire soundtrack to the 1995 movie Angus, Lemonheads), and a general ’90s adult alternative vibe (Ginblossoms, Counting Crows, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Lemonheads). I leave it to you to hear whether any of those are suitable descriptors for my own music.
Lyrically, I strive towards the wit and concision of Stephin Merritt. But not always. I like adverbs muchly.
I’m also in a satirical rap duo called Garden Fresh. We’ve opened for such unique acts as Green Jellÿ, Das Racist, and David Liebe Hart. We’ve heard Dr. Demento sing our praises in person. I’d like to think these things validate our existence to some degree.
I haven’t done enough Googling of “how to write a great artist bio section for your website”.
